This page explains what information coachjohnbush.com and my online courses collect, and what I do with it. Coach John Bush is my coaching and online course business in San Diego, California. I run it myself, so when this page says "I" or "me," it means me, John Bush.
The short version
- I collect what you give me, such as your name and email address when you write to me, ask for a free guide, or buy a course. I also collect basic statistics about how people use the site.
- I use it to reply to you and to deliver what you asked for. I don't sell it, and I don't share it with anyone for their own advertising.
- Information about students from a school license is never used for marketing.
- To see, correct, or delete your information, email support@coachjohnbush.com.
What I collect
When you write to me
The contact forms on my home page and contact page ask for your name, your email address and your message. The contact page also asks what kind of help you are looking for. The inquiry form on the Good With People for Schools page also asks for your role, your school or district, about how many students you have in mind (optional), and whether you would like a free staff review login.
When you ask for a free guide
The sign-up form asks for your email address. I use it to send you the guide, followed by occasional emails from me about social skills, my courses and my coaching.
When you buy a course
My online courses run on Thinkific, at ssm.coachjohnbush.com. To create your account, Thinkific asks for your first and last name, your email address and a password. You can also sign in with a Google, Facebook or LinkedIn account, in which case that company shares your name and email address with Thinkific. At checkout, Thinkific also asks for your billing country and ZIP code.
Payments are handled by Stripe or PayPal. Your card or PayPal details go straight to them. I never see or store your full card number.
Inside a course, Thinkific records your progress, your quiz answers, and anything you choose to post. I can see this information for my students.
When you book a call or hire me as a coach
The booking links on this site go to Calendly. Calendly collects the details you enter there and shares them with me so I can hold the call. Coaching payments are handled by Stripe. What we talk about in coaching stays private under the confidentiality terms of our coaching agreement.
Automatically, when you visit
This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see how the site is used. It records things like the pages you view, the site that sent you here, which buttons you click (for example booking, checkout and email links), your device and browser type, and your approximate location, such as your city. Netlify, which hosts this site, keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses. The pages also load a small script from MailerLite so that my email sign-up forms work.
How I use it
- To answer your messages and inquiries, and to set up staff review logins when a school asks for one.
- To deliver what you asked for: guides, course access, receipts, course emails and refunds.
- To send emails to people on my email list. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- To see which pages help people, so I can improve the site.
- To keep the records I need for taxes, refunds and the law.
If you buy a course, I may email you about it and about my other courses and coaching, and you can unsubscribe at any time. I don't sell personal information, and I don't share it with other companies for their own marketing.
Who else handles it
I use a small number of services to run the business. Each one handles information for me to do its job, and each has its own privacy policy:
- Netlify hosts this website.
- Formspree receives the contact and school inquiry forms and sends them to my email.
- MailerLite sends my email list emails. It tells me whether emails were opened and which links were clicked.
- Google Analytics produces the website statistics.
- Thinkific runs the course platform, student accounts and checkout.
- Stripe and PayPal process payments.
- Calendly schedules calls.
- Zapier connects some of these services so information can move between them automatically.
I would also share information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety. If I ever sold or transferred my business, the information would go to the new owner, who would have to follow this policy for it.
Google Analytics, cookies and Do Not Track
Google Analytics uses cookies, small files your browser stores, such as _ga. Google may collect information about your activity over time and across different websites when you visit this site. You can stop Google Analytics from collecting your visits by installing Google's opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings. Google explains how it uses this information in its privacy policy.
Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal. This site does not change what it collects when it receives one, so the opt-out add-on above is the way to stop Google Analytics here.
This site doesn't use advertising pixels. Thinkific's course pages can load services from other companies, such as social sharing buttons and the Google, Facebook and LinkedIn sign-in options. Those companies' own policies apply to what they collect.
Teens and children
Good With People is a course for teenagers, roughly 13 to 17. A parent or guardian buys it using their own name and email address, so the account belongs to the parent, and the teen signs in with it. The parent can open any lesson, and see the account's progress, at any time.
I don't use a teen's activity in a course, such as quiz answers or progress, for marketing.
My site and courses are not meant for children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given me personal information, email me and I will delete it.
If you are under 18: if you have posted something in one of my courses, such as a comment, a discussion post or a review, you can delete it yourself wherever the course lets you, or email support@coachjohnbush.com and I will remove it for you. Removing a post from my course does not ensure complete or comprehensive removal, for example if someone else copied or reposted it.
Schools
When a school or district licenses Good With People, I set up student accounts on Thinkific using information the school gives me. For that student information, I promise that I will:
- Use it only to provide the course to that school and its students
- Never use it for advertising or marketing, to students, parents or anyone else
- Never sell it
- Never use it to build a profile of a student for any purpose other than the course
- Keep it secure
- Delete it when the school or district asks me to
Staff review logins are used only for reviewing the course and for support. If a school's written agreement with me says something different from this section, the agreement controls.
How long I keep it
I keep messages and inquiries for as long as I need them to reply to you and to keep a record of our conversation. You stay on my email list until you unsubscribe, after which MailerLite keeps a note that you unsubscribed so you are not emailed again. Course accounts stay open for as long as you have access to the course, unless you ask me to delete yours, which ends your access. I keep purchase records for as long as tax law requires.
Security
The site and the services above use encrypted connections, and course accounts are protected by passwords. No system is perfectly secure, so if you think something has gone wrong, please email me right away.
Your choices

- Update your course account: change your name or email address in your account settings on Thinkific, or email me.
- Limit cookies: use Google's opt-out add-on or your browser's cookie settings.
I keep information in the United States, using the services listed above. If you visit from another country, your information will be handled in the United States.

If I change this policy, I will update the effective date at the top of this page. If a change is important, I will also email the people it affects or post a clear notice on this site.
